I'm Dulanji.The Scribbler.Creative.

Hey there! I’m Dulanji Nanayakkara

Or you could even call me “The Scribbler” if it amuses you!

Almost "everyone" could definitely write. But can "anyone" create content with utmost precision and give attention to detail? If you are in quest of that “Distinctive person”, or rather the "out-of-the-box-thinker", that’s where I slip into your territory to abet!

There’s no denying that most of us loathe reading a piece where one has flaunted about himself/herself. The sole reason why I dread answering the question of “Tell me about yourself”.

So, let’s keep this as simple and unpretentious as possible. Writing prose and poetry is my passion. But, creating content for social media, blogs, websites, personal bios, etc. is my job.

I consider myself fortunate to do both every single day and have inner satisfaction in what I do.

The freelancing exposure I received through Fiverr paved the way to expand my business in the areas which I'm so passionate about, and committed to pursuing.

Being a voracious reader and an avid poet from childhood, and the craving I possessed for literature ultimately gifted me with the ability to write artistically, targeting the intended audience, in the proper and the best way.

Can anyone be a content writer?

If you are keen on being a professional content writer, the first few steps to reach that goal would be to;

Read widely and well.
Keep polishing your vocabulary.

I wouldn’t deny that being "gifted" with writing skills could go a long way too!

Once you've honed your skills for the job, you'll need to share them with the public, which you won't be able to do if you're just scribbling away in a notebook or filing your work away in a desktop folder. You could attract the intended audience through a cohesive and professional portfolio, and having a presence on social media.

After working around the clock from 8 to 5 in the corporate world, it finally struck me that this monotonous lifestyle is certainly not what I need for the rest of my life. Comprehending and analyzing the pros and cons of giving up my permanent job, for full-time freelancing was not at all an easy decision to make! But there’s no way I would sit in one place ogling at the computer and doing what my mind wasn’t really into! As Eliot has once said “Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go”, I TOOK THE LEAP! You should always believe in yourself and put your curious mind to the test! It’s never too late (or even too early) to get a do-over!

I think differently

You may wonder what philosophically sets me apart from the rest of the others. While accentuating on the fact that I’m no “weirder” than the rest of the mortals, I would call myself an authentic imaginator.

Authentic imaginator

It may have a strange ring to it or may even sound psychotic (if you think on the surface). But, that’s where the strategy and storytelling of a writer hang out.

Creative content writing

If you are wondering what my most zealous area of writing is, it would be "Creative Content Writing", which involves a great deal of imaginative and inventive thinking, and the ability to spice it up with the art of "Making things up".

What really constitutes happiness in the mindset of humankind? The problem is, most of us view happiness as something nebulous and hard to capture. How hard we try, we come to ground zero once again. That is; seeking happiness through someone else. To be frank it’s “common” to all of us. We run after the ones we consider as our “loved ones” seeking constant attention, belongingness, security, care, and devotion; and most of all, a partner with the same mindset as ours. We all have tried desperately to cling to someone, yet failing pathetically when the one you care for the most is not ready to succumb to your needs or thoughts completely. (more)

My Strategy

"Strategy is about setting yourself apart from the competition. It's not a matter of being better at what you do; it's a matter of being different at what you do." - Michael Porter

Get the right details from the client

Attention to detail and doing exactly what the customer requires, is my strategy of capturing the client. Juggling through the words would not be a matter as long as you are an attentive listener. Remember customer should always come first!

Question until it strikes you

The common mistake most writers make is "not asking enough questions fearing it would make them look dumb"! Honestly, we have to set aside our ego and clarify before we start the work. Ask, ask, and ask until the exact requirement of the client strikes you (Even if that annoys your client a teeny-weeny)

Experiment with your words

Try out new styles of writing. Sometimes being simple as possible with your words is what your client wants. Your style of writing should change after analyzing your client. Phew! Writing isn’t easy after all. You should possess a certain amount of psychological skills to see-through the person you're dealing with.
